The Memphis Sessions Boys concert

I saw these fabulous musicians several years ago during EW when they played at the Daisy theatre on Beale St. So I just had to stay in Memphis long enough to see this performance(otherwise I would have left that day).

This was a fabulous concert. We all got our money's worth and then some. BJ Thomas was totally awesome and Mark James rocked the place with his songs.

Reggie and Mike share a thought together:

I must admit I really don't understand why the TCB band was there, certainly not to back up the Danish singer who was reading the lyrics of the songs he sang. It's always wonderful to see them, but I couldn't help wondering why, with all the trouble it probably took to get them, why they weren't used to better advantage.

Additional performers included Dickey Lee, who wrote "She Thinks I Still Care", among other songs. Here's a link to a bio: http://www.tsimon.com/dickeylee.htm

Bill Black's daughter, Nancy, sang 2 songs, too.

My final comment: I wish this had been a strictly Memphis Sessions band concert with just BJ Thomas and Mark James doing the singing. Having said that, I still enjoyed the show immensely!

Susan, I agree with your comments. B. J. and the Memphis Boys were awesome together. I could have done without the unknown singers. The TCB band was under utilized and there was no way they could showcase their talents with the singer they were paired with.

I'd love to see EPE bring in B.J. to front an EW or BW concert. He obviously has a lot of respect for Elvis as a man and an entertainer.

All this site is, is a vehicle for EPE to spread their propaganda. which is whole lot of crap and all the time.

Uh, excuse me, but I don't work for EPE. I created this blog just so the fans who couldn't be there might get a flavor of what went on, in my own opinion.

You obviously haven't read the blog, because if you had, you would have seen that it isn't all peaches and cream.

Troll.

I was at the show also and every performer was very good, especially the Memphis Boys & the TCB Band, but I definitely agree with your comments. Because he was not only a fan, but also a friend of Elvis, BJ Thomas really does justice to that great music. There are very few people who can do that. I would love to see them put on another show and PLEASE let the man sing this time!!
